The feast of Saint Michael the Archangel, patron saint of Albidona, is held on 8 May every year; in the past it seems to have been held on 29 September, the customary day for the Catholic Church devoted to the three archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, then the date was changed from year to year until it was decided to celebrate Saint Michael on 8 May. The feast draws many emigrants every year, who return to relive the village festival.
On 7 May Saint Francis of Paola is celebrated, with the annual fair in the morning and, in the afternoon, mass and the procession in which the saint is carried through the streets of the town; usually in the evening the «pioche» are raised in the widest spots of the town, supported by bundles of twigs and small sticks. On 8 May morning mass is followed by the first part of the procession, accompanied by the brass band or by local bagpipe players and by women in traditional dress who carry the «cinti», decorated containers for agricultural measures.
