Corigliano-Rossano

Province: Cosenza · Region: Calabria · Population: 74,848 · Postal code: 87064

Two towns merged into one in 2018, holding two treasures you don't expect: in Rossano, the Codex Purpureus — a sixth-century Byzantine gospel book on purple parchment, inscribed in UNESCO's Memory of the World register — and the Amarelli liquorice museum, a dynasty working Calabria's roots since 1731. In Corigliano, the ducal castle is among the South's best preserved.

Between the two stretch kilometres of Ionian citrus groves ripening the IGP clementine. The Sibaritide coast and the excavations of ancient Sybaris complete a stop almost nobody makes — until they discover it.
