Feast of Saint Clement
📅 Every year, on 23 November
On 23 November Paludi celebrates its patron Saint Clement; the municipal territory preserves the Castiglione di Paludi.
Above the village lies Castiglione di Paludi: an Iron Age necropolis and a fortified town of the fourth and third centuries before Christ. The walls are of squared sandstone blocks, with a gate opening onto an inner courtyard and two round towers; inside there is a theatre with seats cut in the rock, which must have served for assemblies. Digging began in 1949; the archaeological park was opened in 2016.
The village of today, on the other hand, is emptying: between the census of 2001 and that of 2011 Paludi was the Italian comune that lost the most residents. It stands on a hill on the northern slopes of the Sila Greca, on the left bank of the Trionto, the same river that runs below Pietrapaola.
