The patron of Seminara is Saint Mercurius of Caesarea, celebrated on 25 November.
The town's most cherished religious tradition, however, is the feast of Maria Santissima dei Poveri, celebrated every 14 August since the year 1010, with a solemn procession of the statue of the Virgin through the town's streets. The town holds the shrine basilica dedicated to her, as well as the Church of San Michele, the Church of Sant'Anna and the Church of San Luigi.
