The patron saint of Barano d'Ischia is Saint Sebastian, celebrated on 20 January.
In the hamlet of Testaccio, Saint George the Martyr is celebrated on 23 April, preceded by the usual novena with processions and torchlight processions through the districts. The Saturday before the solemn feast, the saint's image is carried to the Maronti beach for the blessing of the beach and the sea, a custom dating back to Saracen times, when the saint was invoked to protect the population from invasions. The town also holds the Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Nitrodi spring.
