In the frazione of Rocca Cilento stands a castle that for four centuries was the seat of command of the whole Cilento: in 1110 Guglielmo Sanseverino moved the seat of the barony there, from the top of monte Stella, and from that hill the Sanseverino held justice and administration until 1552, when the emperor took it from them for Ferrante's rebellion.

In 1861 Rocca Cilento became a frazione of Lustra: the capital of a barony ended up inside a comune of a thousand people. The castle was restored in the nineteen-sixties by Ruggero Moscati. Lustra itself looked to Torchiara for a century and a half, first in the Bourbon circondario and then in the mandamento of the kingdom of Italy.
