The patron of San Mauro Pascoli is Saint Crispin, protector of shoemakers, celebrated on 25 October.
The town, which added to its name that of the poet Giovanni Pascoli, born there, has held a public mock "trial" every 10 August since 2001, playfully re-examining the famous unsolved murder of the poet's father.
