The patron saint of Cotignola is Saint Stephen, celebrated on 26 December in the Church of Santo Stefano Protomartire.
At mid-Lent, the Segavecchia is held, one of the oldest feasts in Romagna: celebrated since as far back as 1451, it recounts the legend of the Old Woman sawn in half. The celebrations keep the town busy from Thursday to Sunday of mid-Lent week; on the last day, the masked procession of the Old Woman is held, with allegorical floats parading through the town's streets. The town also holds the Sandro Pertini Park and Casa Varoli.
