Feast of Saint Barbatus
📅 Every year, on 19 February
On 19 February Casalattico celebrates its patron Saint Barbatus, to whom a church in the town is dedicated; in August the Emigrant's Feast and the Irish Fest are held.
The name comes from Titus Pomponius Atticus, Cicero's friend, who had a villa where Montattico now stands: an inscribed stone of the first century before Christ says so, along the road that led to Atina. Casale Attico, then Casalattico. At San Nazario there is a mill of the tenth century, today the museum of milling and country crafts.
From here, after unification, people left for Ireland: and from here come nearly all the families who opened the fish and chip shops there, the Borza, the Cafolla, the Fusco, the Macari, the Mizzoni. About one thousand six hundred people of Italian origin live in Belfast, the village is twinned with Naas, and every year in mid-August the Irish Fest and the emigrant's feast are held.
