The patron saint of Fontechiari is San Bartolomeo, celebrated on 24 August.
The calendar includes the Festa della Madonna dei Fratelli, on the third Sunday of July, the Festa di Sant'Anna in the Cisterna district, the Festa dell'emigrante in August and, in October, the Festa dell'Autunno with the Maxitorta di Fontechiari, usually on the second-to-last Sunday; on 10 August 'Fontechiaresi nel Mondo - La notte degli antichi sapori' is held. The municipality also holds the Santuario della Madonna dei Fratelli and the Eremo di Sant'Onofrio.
