The patron saint of Colleferro is Saint Barbara, traditionally the protector of those working with explosives, celebrated on 4 December in the church dedicated to her.
On 9 April 2003, the 15th launch of the Ariane 5 rocket took place, carrying on its boosters, produced at the town's AVIO plant, the words «Città di Colleferro» (City of Colleferro): a tribute marking ninety years of activity at the local plants, historically linked to munitions and aerospace production. The town also holds the Castle of Colleferro and the Civic Museum of Telecommunications.
