One of the patrons of Genazzano is Saint Nicholas, celebrated on 6 December in the Church of San Nicola; the other patron, the Mother of Good Counsel, is celebrated on 25 April.
The coat of arms of Genazzano owes its design to the Challenge of Barletta, which took place in 1503, pitting thirteen Italian knights, the victors, against thirteen French knights, with the participation of the Genazzano knight Giovanni Brancaleone. Every year, at the end of May, to celebrate this victory, the Palio di Brancaleone is held, a popular feast with a historical re-enactment of the Challenge and the knights' oath. The town also holds the Colonna Castle of Genazzano.
