At the end of via Theodoli, to the left of two round towers, a portal carries the words Nec petas turpia rogatus nec facies: do not wish for unworthy things, and do not do them even if you are pushed to. In the village the warning is explained in two ways: some tie it to the exile up here of Camillo Astalli, others take it for advice to men on how to treat women.

The Theodoli castle is a quadrilateral: three of its four sides are stuck to the houses of the village, the fourth looks onto a park; inside there is a hall frescoed with the Jerusalem Delivered, painted in 1641. The name probably comes from the elder tree; the village first appears in a document of 857-858. Between 1943 and 1944 the Germans hid in the castle gardens.
