One of the patrons of Subiaco is Saint Chelidonia, celebrated on 13 October; the other patron is Saint Benedict of Nursia, on 21 March.
Subiaco preserves the monasteries of San Benedetto and Santa Scolastica, founded by Saint Benedict himself, who withdrew there as a hermit before founding Montecassino.
