The patroness of Ponte Nossa is Santa Maria Annunciata, the Madonna delle lacrime incoronata (crowned Madonna of the Tears), whose feast of the Annunciation falls on 25 March; Saint Bernardino of Siena is commemorated on 20 May, with celebrations on the first weekend near that date.
In the days before the bonfire of Saint Bernardino the population collects wood, paper and rags near the bridge beside the church dedicated to the saint; on the evening of the eve, after the solemn procession and the solemn mass led by the choir, the material is set alight in a great bonfire, with fireworks and a concert by the town band. On 2 June falls the feast of the Apparition, which celebrates the apparition of the Madonna in 1511, when a shepherdess saw the Madonna depicted in a painting on the façade of the medieval chapel weeping.
