Feast of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola
📅 Every year, on the first Sunday of August
On the first Sunday of August Santo Stefano Lodigiano, a municipality of 1,902 inhabitants in the province of Lodi, celebrates its patron Sant'Ignazio di Loyola.
Santo Stefano Lodigiano stretches along the old embankment of the Po, and it has a piece of itself that lies somewhere else: the small exclave of Regona, shut in between the comuni of Corno Giovine, Caselle Landi and Piacenza. A fragment of the Lodi countryside detached from the rest and surrounded by other people's land, with Emilia a step away.
The name has moved about too. Until 1863 it was simply Santo Stefano; then it became Santo Stefano del Corno, and in 1916 it took its present name. Today the oddest thing in the village is a museum: the Franzini Tibaldeo Foundation has opened a branch of the Museum of the Toy and the Child here, which gathers dolls and toys from the eighteenth century to the nineteen-sixties.
