Feast of Saint Blaise
📅 Every year, on 3 February
On 3 February Corno Giovine celebrates its patron Saint Blaise, to whom the town's church is dedicated; the town also has Palazzo Pedrazzini.
Corno Giovine was born out of a village that no longer exists. Villafranca stood on a bend of the Po — cornu, in Latin, means bend — and the floods destroyed it; its people moved and founded three villages that all carry that name: Cornovecchio, Santo Stefano al Corno and this one, the new Corno.
The coat of arms says so with a device: there is a horn, the canting arms of the place name, and there is a ribbon, the kind hung on the door when a child is born, to explain the adjective Giovine, young. The boundaries have moved more than once: between 1809 and 1816 Corno Giovine took in Cornovecchio and Lardera, which later became independent again, and in 1869 Mezzano Passone was annexed to it.
