Jerago con Orago is two villages and two castles: in each of the two centres one stands, both from the thirteenth century, both now in private hands and used for weddings, concerts and conferences. The one at Jerago is the result of a series of alterations made to a twelfth-century building, which in turn seems to have rested on a far older structure; it has a horseshoe plan and belonged to Ottone Visconti and his family.
The two names were joined in 1892, but the boundaries of the comune shifted for a long time: in 1872 Jerago had also annexed Arsago, which took back its independence in 1907. At Orago there is a youth volleyball club that is the most decorated in Italy, with fifteen national titles and many players who went on to Serie A and to the national team. The village band, named after Saint Cecilia, was founded in 1863 and still plays, in summer and at Christmas.
