Molino dei Torti

Province: Alessandria · Region: Piedmont · Population: 653 · Postal code: 15050

Molino dei Torti lies in the flat Tortona country and, together with neighbouring Isola Sant'Antonio, holds an odd record: it is the lowest-lying comune in Piedmont. Between 1928 and 1946 it had no separate existence, merged with Alzano Scrivia into a single comune called Molino-Alzano. Garlic is still its typical crop.

At the centre of the village the parish church of Santa Maria delle Grazie closes a gravel forecourt lined with stone posts: red brick façade framed by pale pilasters, a mosaic under the arch and two stone angels on the slopes of the pediment, the bell tower rising just behind the roof.
