Feast of Saints Peter and Paul
📅 Every year, on 29 June
On 29 June Casalino, a municipality of 1,555 inhabitants in the province of Novara, celebrates its patrons Saints Peter and Paul.
Casalino lies on the Novara plain, between Novara and Vercelli, and gave its name to an agreement between the two cities: the treaty signed here on 25 May 1194 has been called the peace of Casalino ever since. Cameriano appears on the 1581 map of the Duchy of Milan in the Vatican's Gallery of Maps; on the same sheet Orfengo is written Orrengo.
That treaty is also the first certain record of the church of San Pietro, the old parish church, most probably late eleventh century: three naves under a timber roof, a gabled front edged with hanging arches and the facade lunette dated 1479. The apse came down around the turn of the seventeenth century; the church is now closed.
