Piedimulera

Province: Verbano-Cusio-Ossola · Region: Piedmont · Population: 1,559 · Postal code: 28885

The name says where the village is: Pie' di mulera, at the foot of the mule track into the Valle Anzasca. The arms repeat it: over the three peaks that stand for the mountains runs a winding black line, the track; the white band is the Anza, the millstone at the centre recalls gold working. In 1928 the comune took in Cimamulera and Pallanzeno, independent again from 1947.

Above Cimamulera, at a point that looks over the whole Ossola, stands the chapel of the Peace: the parish priest Giuseppe Salina wanted it as a good omen during the Great War, and it was finished in 1917. Small, white, roofed in stone slabs.
