The patroness of Gairo is Sant'Elena Imperatrice, celebrated at Pentecost; the village holds the church of Sant'Elena.
The municipality also holds the Pozzo Sacro Perdu Isu, the Chiesa di Nostra Signora degli Angeli and the Chiesa di San Lussorio. The carnival period begins on 17 January with the bonfire of Sant'Antonio, lit in the main square of the village. The traditional carnival of Gairo stages the archaic struggle between good and evil with S'Urtzu Ballabeni and Is omadoris (or peddincionis), enriched by a series of unique figures.
