The patron of Lanusei is Mary Magdalene, celebrated on 22 July in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maddalena.
On the fourth Sunday of May, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, the Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Madonna d'Ogliastra is held. Around 24 May, or in the first days of June, celebrations are held in honour of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco, with three days of religious procession, a country feast and fireworks. The town also holds the Gennaccili nuraghe and its Nuragic village.
