Orgosolo is an open-air gallery in the heart of Barbagia: since 1969 its façades have gathered more than one hundred and fifty murals — political, poetic, satirical — telling the shepherds' struggles, the Pratobello revolt against a military range, the world as seen by a village that never lowered its gaze.
The tenore chant, UNESCO-listed, resounds at community occasions; the Supramonte above the village opens holm-oak forests and limestone chasms to explore with guides. Lunch with the shepherds, pane frattau and roast suckling pig, is an institution of Barbagia hospitality.
