Home to 3,463 residents, Caronia occupies a stretch of Sicily's northern coast where ancient Greeks established the settlement of Kale Akte, or "Fair Shore". Located midway between Cefalù and Tindari, the town has maintained its strategic coastal position since antiquity, when it was known in Latin as Calacte.
The municipality now forms part of the Nebrodi Regional Park. Positioned along the main Tyrrhenian route, Caronia serves as a practical gateway for travelers moving from the coastline into the protected mountain territory.
