Moio Alcantara celebrates Saint Joseph the Worker on the second Sunday of May, but the more deeply felt feast is that of the Most Holy Crucifix in September: a wooden crucifix carved around 1630 by Friar Umile da Petralia, «il Signuruzzu», venerated by the town.

The patron saint of Moio Alcantara is Saint Joseph the Worker, celebrated on the second Sunday of May. The town's most important feast, however, is that in honour of the Most Holy Crucifix, held in the last week of September: from Friday to Sunday, numerous pilgrims from neighbouring towns pay homage to «il Signuruzzu», a wooden crucifix carved around 1630 by Friar Umile da Petralia (1602-1639), an artist said to have made as many as thirty-three statues of the Lord, now scattered among churches in Sicily, Calabria and Malta, and also known for the Ecce Homo of Calvaruso, on the border between Villafranca Tirrena and Messina.

Coinciding with the celebrations for the Crucifix, the «Fiera di Mojo» (a Fera ô Moju) is also held, one of the oldest and last remaining livestock fairs, which draws visitors even from Calabria, attracted by the chance to find tools now rare, especially for horsemen. The town also celebrates, on the second Sunday of August, the famous Sagra delle pesche, a peach festival.
