The patroness of San Filippo del Mela is the Madonna del Carmine, celebrated on 16 July: it is the town's most important feast, culminating with the procession on the afternoon of that same day. Holy Week sees the great sacred representation of the Passion of Christ, while on Good Friday a solemn penitential procession is held, culminating in the meeting between the statues of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Ecce Homo, with the participation of the 17th-century confraternity of «Gesù Ecce Homo - 'A Fratellanza».
Another deeply felt feast is that of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina: initially celebrated at the oasis dedicated to him with a small neighbourhood feast, it has grown over the years thanks to the founding of the association «Santo Pio Eventi e Tradizioni».
