The patron saint of Marineo is Saint Cyrus, celebrated on 31 January and again on the third Sunday of August. The town is known for the tradition of the living nativity, a short theatrical representation depicting the birth of Jesus with human performers: among the most cherished editions are the Living Nativity at the Convent and the Living Nativity beneath the Rocca.
A highlight of Marineo's cultural life is the town's International Poetry Prize, run by the Gioacchino Arnone Foundation. The town also preserves the mother church, the church of Sant'Anna, that of San Vincenzo Ferreri, the Eleuterio Valley regional archaeological museum, and the Beccadelli Bologna Castle.
