🎉 Patron saint festival

Feast of St John the Baptist

📍 Marsala · Trapani · Sicily

Every 24 June Marsala celebrates its co-patron St John the Baptist with a procession and fireworks over the Lungomare Boeo, after days of concerts, themed talks and seafront market stalls.

June 24 belongs to St John the Baptist, Marsala's co-patron. The town council and the mother church run the festivities together, and everything builds towards the procession and the fireworks fired over the Lungomare Boeo — the 2026 edition billed its finale as a full fireworks festival facing the sea.

The build-up lasts several days: the church of San Giovanni al Boeo hosts masses, concerts and public debates on a different theme each year, from bullying to violence against women, while market stalls line the seafront. On the feast day itself you can also walk down into the Grotta della Sibilla, the underground chamber the church was built over, free of charge.
