Occupying a stretch of Sicily's western coastline, Petrosino sits directly between the larger municipalities of Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. Known locally by its Sicilian name, Pitrusinu, the town falls under the administration of the Trapani province.
Home to exactly 7,760 residents, the municipality has a brief civic history. It only became an independent administrative entity in 1980, formed by separating parcels of land from its two larger neighbors to establish a new local government.
