Castelvetrano keeps Selinunte: one of Europe's largest archaeological parks, where the Doric temples of the Greek colony rise between the sea and the fields of wild celery that named it. The recomposed Temple E, the acropolis on the dunes and the Cusa quarries — column drums abandoned mid-work — compose a unique account of the Greek West.

In town, the fifth-century BC bronze Ephebe is the civic museum's jewel; Castelvetrano's black bread, from ancient grains baked over wood, and the Nocellara del Belice olive are the flag flavours. The Marinella beaches close the day.
