In this territory there is a waterfall with a ninety-seven metre drop, and at Rablà, in 1552, a milestone of the Roman road Via Claudia Augusta was found; a second milestone of the same road turned up in 1786. The name is pre-Roman and is attested as Parzins in 1087. The village, with its castle of Stachlburg, was founded around 1200 by the knight Randolf von Partschins, and in 1967 the comune took up his arms: a plough set diagonally.
Parcines is where Peter Mitterhofer was born, who in 1864 built his typewriter, and the village museum keeps some two thousand of them, a few made of wood, down to the models that came just before and just after the computer age. At Rablà a private museum reproduces the most characteristic places of South Tyrol as a model railway: a thousand square metres and more than twenty thousand objects. And at Tel, inside one of the works of the Alpine Wall built here in the nineteen-forties, the artist Matthias Schönweger has set up an exhibition whose name is a pun on the bunker and the heart. On the second of August 2011 a landslide of about seventy thousand cubic metres came down from the mountain above the village and stopped just at the houses.
