The round tower of the Palazzo Vecchio of Nomi became famous for a dreadful thing: in 1525, during the peasants' war, the feudal lord of the time, Pietro Busio, was burned alive inside it. The palace was a fortified residence of the Renaissance — a stronghold fitted out as a dwelling for the nobles of the day — and of that building the loggia and precisely the tower have been perfectly preserved. In the church of the Madonna della Consolazione, instead, things of quite another tone are kept: a precious canvas of the fifteenth century and the altar of the Holy Rosary, the work of the baroque sculptor Domenico Sartori, who made it in the middle of the eighteenth century.

Nomi lies on the right bank of the Adige, some twenty kilometres south of Trento, and is one of the seven Lagarina comuni that made up the Comun Comunale Lagarino, an old administrative institution of the valley. That institution no longer exists, but it has stayed in people's memory and in a feast called precisely Comun Comunale — the Games and the Rule: it is held every year between the last week of May and the first of June, and it changes place by rotation among the seven villages, that is Aldeno, Cimone, Isera, Nogaredo, Nomi, Pomarolo and Villa Lagarina; the events of the Middle Ages are re-enacted with games, music and dances. The trade of the house, here, is wood: they make furniture and objects, decorated with motifs of the local tradition.
