The patroness of Villa Basilica is Santa Maria Assunta (Assumption of Mary), celebrated on 15 August; the municipality holds the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta.
Since the 1990s Villa Basilica has hosted the Festival Nazionale Cinema Teatro Televisione, an award for the performing arts: to date more than 180 names are inscribed on its roll of honour. Every year, usually in summer, the 'Bovegliadi', a multi-sport competition open to all ages, take place in the hamlet of Boveglio.
