Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary
📅 Every year, on 7 October
On 7 October Caerano di San Marco celebrates its patron Our Lady of the Rosary; the town's name comes from the church of San Marco Evangelista.
On the Rive di Caerano, the small rise that continues the Montello, tools attributed to Neanderthal man have come to light, and later traces of Homo sapiens. The village name, though, is Roman, from a Cavarius; it first appears in writing in a deed of 27 January 1148, exchanging a piece of land in villa de Cairano.
In the nineteenth century the Benzi Zecchini family left a bequest obliging a Venetian almshouse to keep the poor of Caerano free of charge: word got round, and the destitute arrived from neighbouring villages, making the place grow. Between 1928 and 1946 Caerano did not exist: it was a hamlet of Montebelluna.
