Feast of Saint Nicholas
📅 Every year, on 6 December
On 6 December Monfumo celebrates its patron Saint Nicholas; at the end of September the town also hosts the apple festival.
The name is thought to come from the clouds that gather round the tops; someone has suggested smoke signals along the Lombard frontier, but the source itself calls that reading a weak one. From the twelfth century two families held two strongholds here, the Maltraversi and the da Castelli: they stood where the two parish churches stand today.
The comune was created in 1810, when the French detached it from Asolo; in 1928 it was put back inside Asolo, and since 1945 it has been on its own again. Since 2009 the village has taken its old apples in hand: eighteen varieties were identified and handed to local growers, and at the end of September there is the apple fair.
