Paese celebrates Saint Martin on 11 November.
A comune called simply Paese, «village»: the name comes from the Latin pagensis, the one at the edge of the pagus, that is the place next to the settlement — which one, nobody knows, perhaps Quinto, perhaps Treviso. The other names share the same practical habit: Padernello from poplars, Porcellengo from pigs, Castagnole from chestnut trees.
Postioma, instead, comes from the via Postumia: the Roman consular road still runs through it, and around it the fields keep the pattern of centuriation. There are no real watercourses, only ditches and channels fed from the Piave; and a dozen gravel pits, half of them dug down to the water table and now filled with water. There are 21,432 residents.
