The patron saint of Montecchio Maggiore is Saint Vitalis, celebrated on 8 September.
On the last Sunday of April and on 1 May, the town immerses itself in a medieval atmosphere to relive the historic feud between the Montecchi (Montague) and Capuleti (Capulet) families and to savour the flavour and colours of a late 15th-century town: the event's first editions, from 1981 to 1984, were held at the Castello della Villa, also known as Romeo's Castle. The town also holds Villa Cordellina, the church of San Pietro Apostolo and the Bellaguardia Castle.
