The patron saint of Montesilvano is Saint Anthony of Padua, celebrated on 13 June in the church dedicated to him, one of the town's main places of worship together with the church of the Madonna della Neve.
The Montesilvano coastline, occupied until the early 20th century by rural villas and plantations, was later heavily built up, with poor urban planning leaving the town almost devoid of squares or gathering places, except for the extensive Pineta di Santa Filomena nature reserve on the seafront, home also to the historic Stella Maris bathing colony, built during the Fascist regime and today awaiting a restoration project. In 1988 the railway line's relocation, accompanied by the construction of the new Pescara Centrale station, freed the municipal territory of numerous level crossings, allowing previously separated districts to reunite and the old route to be converted into a pedestrian road along the coastal strip.
