Spoltore

Province: Pescara · Region: Abruzzo · Population: 18,566 · Postal code: 65010

The administrative history of Spoltore (known locally as Spuldórë) has been intertwined with neighboring Pescara for nearly a century. After being absorbed by the provincial capital in 1928, the town regained its independence on September 1, 1947.

However, this autonomy will soon come to an end. In a narrow 2014 referendum, local voters opted to merge Spoltore, Pescara, and Montesilvano into a single municipality. Following multiple legislative delays, the town's 18,566 residents are now slated to join the unified city by 2027.
