The patron saints of Miglionico are Saint Peter and Saint Anthony, celebrated on 29 June. The mother church of Santa Maria Maggiore, built between the 13th and 14th centuries over the remains of an ancient chapel dedicated to the Holy Saviour, joins the town's oldest core to the areas developed later, which grew during Norman rule between the 11th and 12th centuries.
Miglionico is best known, however, for the Castello del Malconsiglio, whose origins go back to the 8th-9th centuries: it was here that the famous Conspiracy of the Barons against King Ferdinand I of Naples took place in 1485, the episode that placed the castle in the annals of southern Italy's political history.
