The patron of Terranova di Pollino is Saint Francis of Paola, celebrated on 2 April in the parish church dedicated to him, built in the 16th century and restored in 1930. From the original building, the main door in loricato pine wood is still kept — the conifer that gives its name to the Pollino National Park, on which the town stands — along with some marble ornaments. Inside, with three naves, there is a 17th-century altarpiece with the Madonna del Rosario surrounded by fifteen panels and a fresco of the Last Supper; beside the church stands a small bell tower with two 16th-century bells.
Terranova di Pollino's calendar also keeps alive the feast of Saint Anthony, on 13 June: a fir tree, called la pita, is cut in the mountains and pulled to the town by oxen, then carried by hand along the main street amid dancing and music.
