On 23 April San Giorgio Albanese celebrates its patron Saint George the Great Martyr (Shën Gjergji i Math) with a popular and religious festival.
During the unusual «rooster auction» (asta dei galli) people traditionally compete to make the best offering to leave to the patron; the use of traditional Albanian costumes remains alive, at least on particular religious feast days, and the costume of San Giorgio Albanese stands out from those of other Arbëreshë communities for the «pandera», an original little belt.
