Among the patrons of Afragola is Saint Januarius, celebrated on 19 September.
The most cherished feast in the city, however, is that of Saint Anthony of Padua, on 13 June: devotion to the saint, housed in the basilica dedicated to him, has made Afragola known as the "Padua of the South", twinned since 1995 with the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua.
