The patron of Giffoni Valle Piana is Saint Mary of the Annunciation, celebrated on 25 March.
The town is well known for the Giffoni Film Festival, the world's most important event for children's cinema, founded in 1971 by the then-eighteen-year-old Claudio Gubitosi, which draws thousands of people from around the world every year. In August, the town also hosts a theatre exhibition. The town holds the Convent of San Francesco and the Castello di Terravecchia, as well as the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie.
