🎉 Patron saint festival

Feast of Saint Pantaleon

📍 Ravello · Salerno · Campania

On 27 July the cathedral of Ravello displays the ampoule holding Saint Pantaleon's blood, which liquefies on that day each year. It is the patron's feast, shared with Saint Barbara.

The patron of Ravello is Saint Pantaleon and his feast falls on 27 July. The cathedral, consecrated in 1080, keeps among its relics the ampoule of the saint's blood, which on that very day shows its annual liquefaction.

The ampoule was moved to its present chapel on 16 May 1661, thirty years after works begun as an ex voto for the earthquake that followed the eruption of Vesuvius in 1631. Alongside Pantaleon, Ravello also venerates Saint Barbara.
