The patron of Canossa is Saint Martin of Tours, celebrated on 11 November in the Church of San Martino Vescovo.
The town gives its name to the famous Castello di Canossa, the setting in 1077 for the meeting between Emperor Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII, from which the Italian expression «andare a Canossa» (to go to Canossa) derives. The territory also holds the Torre di Rossenella and the Church of Sant'Apollonio.
