The patron of Aprilia is the Archangel Michael, celebrated on 29 September.
The city was officially inaugurated by Benito Mussolini on 29 October 1937, and its territory was soon settled by colonists from Friuli, Veneto and Romagna, as well as by farmers of Tyrolean and Venetian descent who came from Bosnia and Romania, each bringing their own traditions and dialects.
