The patron of Itri is Our Lady of the Civita, celebrated on 21 July in the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Civita, attested since at least the 12th century and consolidated between the 15th and 19th centuries with expansions, restorations, solemn coronations and papal visits.
Tradition links the origin of the cult to the miraculous finding of an Eastern icon. On 25 April, a pilgrimage to the sanctuary is also held against drought, while the town also holds the Fires of Saint Joseph, «lì fuòc d'Sangiusépp'» in the Itri dialect. The town also holds the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Castle of Itri.
