The patron saint of Ardea is Saint Peter the Apostle, celebrated on 29 June. The town is enlivened throughout the year by numerous other traditions: on the first Sunday of May the Palio di Maggio is run, pitting against each other the town's nine districts of Banditella, Caronti, Casalazzara, La Rocca, Le Salzare, La Torre, Montagnano, Pian di Frasso and Torre Bruna.
In July, meanwhile, the feast of Santa Maria del Rosario is celebrated: for the occasion, all of Ardea's balconies and windows are decorated with embroidered sheets, a tradition that involves the whole town community and transforms the village streets into a route of hand-decorated fabrics.
